TALLADEGA NIGHTS
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
Most of the time, people are either celebrating Will Ferrell movies, or trying to pretend they never happened, so it’s strange to think of an underrated Ferrell flick. But I think Talladega Nights falls through the cracks for a lot of people, which is frankly unacceptable. It is one of the 5 films I’d include in the ‘Gary Sanchez Five Star Formula Five’, which are films written by Adam McKay & Will Ferrell, directed by Adam McKay, and starring Will Ferrell. Look them up. They are all so good.
The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is as dumb as they come. The lead character’s name is Ricky Bobby. His sons are called Walker and Texas Ranger and they prefer to pray to Baby Jesus instead of Adult Jesus. Somehow, Sacha Baron Cohen is in it and plays a French driver with an accent that sounds like he’s chewing bees. It’s the best! Throw in Ferrell’s ultimate sidekick John C Reilly, as well six-time Academy Award nominee Amy Adams, and you are in for the ride of your life. And remember, if you ain’t first, you’re last!
