Beam: Product Design

Intro

ARiVR was a product we designed and developed for populating 3D virtual environments with content without needing a full system rebuild.

Brief

To rebrand ARiVR and create a new style guide which can then be used to design a marketing site, a product concept video and then the product itself.

To kick off the project I created and hosted a Star Wars themed naming workshop below.

The final name chosen was 'Beam' ironically inspired by the Star Trek transporters as content would be 'beamed' into 3D environments using the product.

The brand started as a pair of VR goggles turned on their side to double as a capital 'B' this concept evolved into a beam in the negative space of the B with the top and bottom of the beam doubling as the counters of the capital B.

A blue gradient felt the right choice for the logo mark, and primary brand colour as it created a sense of movement and is?a classic colour for an Alien spaceship's?beam.

Above some early COVID friendly concepts, which was a big part of the early pitch. A work in progress logo being tried out too.

Above some experiments with complimentary typefaces. Finally a simple sans-serif typeface felt the right choice below.

A collection of custom illustrations was created and sent to Votion to be animated for the product concept intro video.

Below are some more custom illustrations that were created for the animated video.

The illustrative assets that were designed for the video were also shared in the web design for the original marketing website below.

A custom icon set was also created being used below and above.
