Not It! Camping Chaos Edition
Here's a project I wrapped up last year for the Good Game Company. Working on a physical game has been a bucket list type of gig for me for quite a while and this was a great way to check that off the list.
The brief included designing the logo, a dice tower, 3 dice, and a set of cards. I absolutely love a job that centers around illustrative design like this.
One of the main tasks was creating a set of 6 camping themed objects that were visually distinct in both silhouette and color. After some brainstorming we landed on a lantern, a hatchet, binoculars, a canteen, a map, and a compass.
The game revolves around quickly identifying combinations of colors, objects and patterns before your opponents. So each card is a distinct combination of those three elements.

The dice tower has a nice compartment in the back that holds the cards, dice, and game rules. A nice self contained unit without any additional packaging.
When you drop the dice through the tower they come flying out of the tent. I modeled the sleeping bags inside after a sleeping bag I had as a child. I love getting little details like that into projects when it serves the brief.
Here's the full artwork for the tower including the sides, top, bottom, and internal sleeping bag decal. It was a tricky problem solving exercise to come up with a nice seamless wrap graphic that worked with the tower, but it was worth the trial and error to get it nice and dialed in.
