Mike “Greeny” Greenberg is an ESPN personality known for his hot takes, and he’s collected many of them in his new book Got Your Number - The Greatest Sports Legends and the Numbers They Own. We had the pleasure of working with Disney Publishing to design and illustrate the book jacket, as well as the interior spot illustrations, that highlight many of the included sports legends that Greeny has deemed the “owners” of their respective numbers. In some cases such as Michael Jordan (23), the number they own is their jersey number, but others are more nuanced, for example 67, the number of years that Vin Scully was behind the microphone for the Dodgers. It was a fun challenge working in the limited one-color constraints that the book’s printing required, and getting to tackle a slightly more hand drawn style than we’re typically used to. Got Your Number is out now wherever books are sold.
