A decade.
The Furrow began 10 years ago today and it seems impossible to capture the significance of having reached this milestone.
The day I found the name for our business is still vivid in my memory.? I had worked through a long list of names that didn't quite fit.? As I was driving home one evening, I passed a local farm and noticed the furrows in a freshly plowed field.? They almost seemed to dance, their shapes appearing to oscillate as they moved past my window.? At that moment, I found what I had been looking for.
The Furrow ["fur-oh"]"
A place of origin, dug for a purpose greater than itself."
My goal was to build a company that would become a home for creativity.? It would serve as a platform for talent from around the world, not just for the work itself but to be an environment that values people and helps them to grow.
When I look back at our accomplishments, it's not the projects but the people and experiences that stand out.? We have collaborated with creatives from over 30 countries to create projects that have impacted over a billion people.? We have contributed to solving significant social and technical problems, helped in the fight against child sex abuse, raised awareness about homelessness and infectious disease, and supported fundraising efforts against war and violence.? We also haven't taken ourselves too seriously, collaborating on projects that exist solely to make audiences smile or inspire creatives to push the boundaries of their skills.
We would not exist without the overwhelming kindness of strangers and the immense trust placed in us by people we know only through the internet. I am grateful to have found an industry that I am deeply passionate about, and I am humbled to work alongside such brilliant, diverse, and skillful people, particularly my incredible staff.
Cheers to a decade of creative achievements.? Here's to many more! ??
