App redesign - case study

Hi! ??

The April Jigsaw Puzzle by Numbers app is a fantastic way for people to unwind and enjoy themselves by solving puzzles. However, there are a few issues with its user interface that could potentially affect user engagement and overall experience. I think that with some adjustments, the app can become more user-friendly and even more enjoyable to use!

???The current app has a significant problem with its layout. It lacks appropriate margins and spacing between elements, leading to visual clutter and reduced usability. Additionally, the typography is illegible and lacks a clear hierarchy. To improve this, I took the first step in the redesign process by introducing proper margins and padding to create breathing room on the screen. I also implemented a new typography that distinguishes between headers, descriptions, and body text.

?? Below, you will find a breakdown of three user experience cases that can enhance user engagement.

Pop up after finishing the game

In the current version of the app, there is no celebration or prompt to encourage users to keep playing. Instead, they have to go back to pick another puzzle, which negatively affects the user flow. To address this issue, a post-game popup can be introduced so that players can see their score and immediately start a new game. This will increase overall user engagement and retention.

Galleries filtering

All puzzle galleries are located in one place and it can be challenging to locate a specific one, especially when there are many galleries to choose from. To improve the user experience, filter implementation and separating completed galleries from the others would make it easier to navigate and find the desired puzzles.

Enhanced visibility of Premium Content

Within the existing app, it is easy to overlook premium content cause it does not stand out from the free puzzle. I created colorful cards with subtle animated highlights to make the premium content more visible. By improving its visibility, we can attract new subscribers and enhance user satisfaction, since they can easily find and enjoy valuable and exclusive features.
