SiVo Wellness identity design

Professional Rugby Union players Jake Woolmore and Harry Thacker have had access to elite level recovery facilities for their whole careers and have reaped the rewards. They believe more people need to experience these benefits and so they have launched SiVo Wellness - a lifestyle brand offering market leading recovery tools and treatments to those outside the pro athlete space but passionate about exercise and holistic wellness.

The name SiVo comes from the hybrid of 2 Finnish words, the first being “Sisu” which means the strength of will, determination and perseverance. The second being “Arvo” which means value and worth. With the techniques and treatments SiVo offer and their brand name being rooted in Nordic culture, I explored ancient symbols, alphabets and marks to inform my decision making going into the idea generation stage.

A huge part of the brief was ensuring the brand felt real/authentic which lead me to consider a handwritten logotype as they can often give off the same vibe. I became increasingly excited by the idea of combining a handwritten feel with letterforms intrinsically linked to Nordic alphabets. It was vital that the logotype would be legible in English so I needed to dial back the Nordic accuracy until I found a good middle ground.

Despite both Jake and Harry being uniquely positioned in the market based on their exposure to such treatments, there are many competitors in this space due to the growing popularity of cold exposure advocate and breathing expert, Wim Hof. With this in mind, I needed to select a natural and approachable colour palette that would instil a sense of calm and trust in the target demographic. I decided on a couple of colours that were based on cold and others that felt neutral or leaning to warmth.

Along with the identity design I created for Jake and Harry, I also pulled together social templates that complimented the identity and would ensure SiVo is presented cohesively across all touchpoints. As the facilities and treatments offered by SiVo are typically locked behind a sizeable paywall, the mere mention of them could alienate their audience. To help alleviate this potential friction, I designed the social media templates as simply as possible with the main identifier being the S logomark and the beautifully inviting colour palette.
