Shiraz - Wine Label Design
Welcome to the Wines of the World series, where today we're spotlighting Cortese. Recently, I've become captivated by the vast array of wines the world has to offer. Inspired by my New Year's resolution to create a new piece of work every day, I've decided to design a unique wine label for each type of wine I explore.
About Shiraz
Shiraz, also known as Syrah, has a storied history that traces back to ancient Persia and has flourished in the vineyards of France's Rh?ne Valley and Australia's Barossa Valley. This versatile grape produces wines that are deeply colored and full-bodied, with flavor profiles that range from dark berries and plum to hints of pepper, licorice, and smoky undertones. The rich, robust taste of Shiraz, complemented by its velvety tannins and spicy finish, has made it a favorite among wine enthusiasts worldwide.
About the Design
The design of this wine label draws inspiration from vintage botanical illustrations found in the British Museum archives, showcasing an elegant and timeless aesthetic. The intricate details of the vibrant red flower set against a gradient background evoke a sense of classic beauty and natural sophistication. The graceful typography complements the botanical artwork, creating a harmonious balance that pays homage to the rich heritage and artistry of historical botanical illustrations. This label not only captures the essence of Shiraz but also invites wine enthusiasts to appreciate the fusion of history, art, and fine wine.
