Octane and Stranger Things
Fun with Cinema, Octane and Photoshop.
I remember when my teachers would preach "Don't watch TV, it'll poison your mind"... yeah maybe if you're' stuck on the Kardashians but common Stranger Things ...I'm not sure if anything can top it, the nostalgia is what got me hooked, then there was the art direction, the constant changing of cinematography from dark to light and back again.
As an artist I'm constantly trying to find new ways to get inspired, the internet is great but it requires patience and honestly can be a tad overwhelming. I'm finding it more frequent that pop-up shows like Stranger Things really get me storming about how I can hone my design skills, trying new techniques, replicating scenes in my favorite design programs and trying to prove myself wrong that I can't do it.
Here is the scene that I fell in-love with soon as it appeared, Hopper in the map maze, the fog, the atmospheric particles and dust shining through... I immediately attempted to re-create it. I created everything here from scratch including the tunnel map. Fun stuff.
Also thanks, Aaron Sather for once again crushing the art direction.. p.s. the "2" didn't work out ;)
