The Talbot Mousetrap

The Talbot Mousetrap was first produced in the late 1830's and pioneered its inventor's photographic process, the calotype process. This process allowed for multiple prints to be made from a negative and played a critical role in the evolution of photography. The term "Mousetrap" was given to the small box because they were so crudely made that William Henry Fox Talbot's wife called them Mousetraps, and the name stuck.
