Dear artists, your work has value even on holidays. Don't feel pressured to lower your rates.

I use discounts to reward loyalty and to surprise and delight my most loyal customers. Every time I do this I'm literally burning money so I reserve it for special occasions.

There is no rule saying you have to discount your art just because everyone else is. Small businesses sometimes can't compete with those crazy slashed prices with profit margins being so low already. So don't feel pressured next holiday season to drop your prices. Your art still has the same value, even though it's the holidays.
