Mealthy mobile recipe app - onboarding

The Mealthy mobile app is a recipe app with a focus on recipes that compliment the company's line of kitchen appliances.

Users can search for and save their favourite recipes, create grocery lists and meal plans from saved recipes, and find recipes that can be made using the Mealthy appliances they own. Some users (depending on geographic location) can even order groceries from their lists through grocery delivery apps like Instacart.

The app interface was designed by the Res.im team a while back and has been evolving with new features ever since. With the roll out of so much more beyond just searching for and saving recipes the company decided they should run through these features with new users during onboarding. They requested interface designs for a quick feature tour with screen shots depicting the most important app features.

The existing onboarding process included a question for new users: "Are you vegetarian?" This allows users to decide whether or not they want to view recipes with meat as an ingredient. During this onboarding revamp project the question screen was expanded upon to allow users to select Mealthy products they might own. If users select one or more products it gives them a more tailored experience when using the app by allowing them to view recipes that can be made with the appliances they own.
