Discovery - STS - 33

This was a really fun warm up, I saw this photo of the spaceship coming in to landing pop into my timeline thanks to @lukebeard and @airandspace. I instantly thought of this weeks warm up.

I started by bringing the photo into Illustrator and sampling for my color palette. I then used the photo for general inspiration of the mountain shapes. I picked a tear drop shape for the patch because I thought it fit the shape and gave plenty of space for the mountains in the background to shine.

Really loving the free form gradient tool from illustrator, not that I used it too much in this project but it was fun to use.

I finished by taking the photo into photoshop and color separating it so that I could get a good amount of the natural grain from the photo, then cloned out everything else but the gain and changed the blending mode to linear light.
