A Day of Dribbble and Design: Hang Time Seattle is a Wrap!

Our second Hang Time event was a total blast! Over three hundred designers made their way to Seattle to watch some amazing speakers, network with their peers, and let loose at the after party. The entire Dribbble team also attended, and we really relish the opportunity to get some face time with both the community as well as each other.

The whole event took place at Bell Harbor, and saw incredible speakers such as Khoi Vinh, who asked us what we want design to be, and Dina Rodriguez, who gave great insights into gaining traction on social media. We also heard from Nathan Yoder on the purpose behind design work, Don and Ryan Clark maintaining quality of both work and life, and Klare Frank spoke on utilizing and respecting your design intuition. Liz Heidner encouraged us to choose our own adventure, and we learned about fluent design and how to make technology feel more natural with Claudio Guglieri. Aaron Draplin also did us the honor of not only giving the keynote, but also hosting a special workshop giving attendees an inside look at what goes down in the Aaron Draplin of Draplin Design Co.

In addition to our lovely speaker list, we had a great in-depth discussion on design career paths, design leadership, burn out, and advocating for design across organizations with panelists Marie Gosal, Josh Brewer, and Sarah Kuehnle. Later on in the day, we had a very special live episode of our Overtime podcast with Victor Melendez, Dina Rodriguez, Sasha Barr, and Dan Cederholm. Look for that episode next week and subscribe!

The After-Party

After a long day of paying attention and growing both personally and professionally, everybody was ready for a drink. Our After Party was also at Bell Harbor. Conference goers and other folks from the Seattle design community gathered to mingle and network. We had some yummy grub, a solid DJ, and awesome GIF photobooth from Brandfolder. There was even an unofficial sticker exchange between Dribbblers, which we loved!

Real Thread was ready to go with a live screen printing set-up, dishing out shirts with the winning design of our Hang Time Seattle Playoff, MOO was helping folks make super psychadelic business-card holders, and our amazing local vendors, Aaron Draplin and Co, Victor Melendez, Dan Duarte of Mightier Than, Casey Callahan, Bekah Malover, and Derric Wise had tables set up with their stellar merchandise.
