Design learning for everyone at December's Dribbble Meetups

This past December, five Dribbble Meetups took place in five different countries. With that being said, we were amazed to hear that a total of 305 attendees came out to hang with fellow Dribbblers! These events all had extremely informative design talks in common covering a wide variety of subjects from building and training a great design team, to how to find your illustration style. Needless to say, the hosts and speakers did an amazing job planning out really valuable design-learning content for our community.

Interested in attending a Dribbble Meetup? It’s not too late to join one near you this January in places like Noida, Port Harcourt, Orlando, Charlotte, and more! No meetups happening near you? We’d love to help you get started in hosting your own.

Tehran, Iran @ Highway Innovation Factory

“Our first Tehran Dribbble Meetup went very well. More than 140 people attended to network, share experience, and learn from the pros. People from other cities working in different fields like illustration, motion design, animation, product design, startup community builders, UI/UX design, and even programmers all gathered together to share their experiences and meet each other. Highway Innovation Factory, a co-working space, was kind enough to let us organize the meetup in their building. 7Mive, an online grocery startup, provided fresh fruits for all of the attendees. Zoomit and Digiato, two major technology websites, helped us promote the meetup.

“During the meetup, we had four presentations from well-known and respected designers and entrepreneurs. Hooman Hatefi who is the Product Designer of one of the largest ride-hailing services of Middle East gave us a speech on how to train and build a great team for Design. Reza Bakhtiari Fard, a well-known font designer and typographer shared his great experience from designing a typeface.

“We also had with us Arman Alipour who shared his experience of working with international animation studios and gave us great advice on how to grow and find our own style in both animation and illustration. Also, we had Elahe Balouchi, a great Illustrator who has worked in the field for quite some time now and she let us know how to approach an illustration for motion design from start to finish.

“Our hashtag (#TehranDM) was used 370 times on Twitter and our live stream powered by Aparat, a YouTube-like video sharing platform, got more than 1,400 views in total. Our registration link was visited nearly 3000 time which was really exciting!”

Silesia, Poland @ Boldare Office

“Our second Silesia Dribbble Meetup was held on Thursday, December 13th at the Boldare office in Gliwice. The meetup was organized by Boldare and it was powered by On Lemon which provided the drinks. We had 45 people welcomed in the office in addition to 69 on the live stream. The meetup started with Pawe? Capaja (Product Designer at Boldare) who talked about fast prototyping and his experience as a Designer in a 48 hour hackathon focused on the wind power industry. After the first Pawe?, we had another one: Pawe? Szymankiewicz (Creative Lead at Droids on Roids) talked about forms and some tips on how to make them the most user-friendly experience. To finish the talks, we had Alexander Caban (Art Director at Carbon Studio) who talked about the UI/UX designer role in the game industry with lots of nice examples. On top of that, there was lots of networking and pizza—we had a great time! To feel how great the atmosphere was you can check our video.”

Bogota, Columbia @ Platzi

“Fifty design enthusiasts gathered for the third edition of the Dribble Meetup Bogota on December 5 in Platzi. We had a master class by Fabio Cortés on the combination of design and code to transform beautiful lines into art. Although it was not just about “design,” it was showing the importance of programming to be a better designer and create better digital products together.
